April is MENA Heritage Month

Bothell Proclamation - MENA Heritage Month 2026

Mayor Thompson has approved your proclamation request for MENA Heritage Month for the April 21 City Council Meeting, 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall Please confirm if you, or a representative, will be in attendance to accept. You may accept in person or virtually.

A few things of note:

  • The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 PM. If folks are coming in-person, I'd recommend arriving to City Hall around 5:45 PM so that I can familiarize you with the process and how to work the microphone. There is plenty of parking at City Hall (both in the underground garage and street parking). If you're taking the elevator, you'll want to select the lobby level or just come through the front door.

  • If folks are joining virtually, just let me know and I can share the zoom link with them or check out the City's Agenda Center for the link (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87356186684). Accepting the proclamation can be done either in person or virtually!

  • At the start of the meeting, after the Pledge of Allegiance, the Mayor will read the proclamation, then invite you to the podium to share your remarks. You'll have 2-3 minutes to share remarks about the significance of the day.

  • After you accept the proclamation, the Mayor will ask if you want a photo op. If so, Council will come down off the dais to take a picture. No pressure if you're not looking for a photo though.

  • We suggest 1 person from organization to be the "official" acceptors of the proclamation, just to keep things orderly, but when public comment opens, anybody in attendance is welcome to speak for up to 3 minutes about the proclamation.

  • After the proclamation is accepted, you're welcome to stay for the rest of the meeting, but you're also welcome to head out. Folks come and go throughout the meeting, so it's not at all considered rude to leave once you've finished up. We typically recommend that community members set aside 5:45 - 6:15 PM to accept the proclamation.

We look forward to seeing you, and please let me know if you have any questions.
